In April 2005 Chris was a semi finalist in the Templeogue Irish Open at under 18 level, which is one of the top tournaments in Irish junior events. In the same year he played at number one for the senior County Antrim team.

In July 2005 Chris won the U18 singles title and was runner up in the U18 doubles having won it the previous year. He was also a semi finalist in the senor singles in the Ballycastle tournament. He has won the U18 singles and doubles twice at the Larne tournament.

In August 2005 Chris was selected for the five man Ulster Senior Interprovinicial team.

Whilst playing for Ulster in the under 18 Interprovincinal championships he won all three matches, all of which were singles, and amassed three out of the total of five points for the team.

In the BLTC Junior tournaments Chris won the Boys Under 18 title for five consecutive years, and has also won the Men's Senior Championship in the club.

He has also won the under 18 singles event at the Ulster Hardcourt Championships at Windsor Lawn Tennis Club in August 2005.

Unfortunately Chris suffered a shoulder injury which, for the time being, has seen him withdraw from competitive play but his ability and enthusiasm has made Chris very popular with the junior members and he has seen many progress to a high standard of play with good results in the Junior Leagues and tournaments. Fergus Barklie also often runs introductory courses and has introduced many to the wonderful world of tennis. Keep your eye on the website for details of upcoming courses.
